Local Wireless Internet: How secure is it?

I consider myself a fairly advanced computer user; however, I’m still pursuing the never-ending quest of ensuring my internet connection is totally bullet-proof. I share a wireless internet connection w/ a roomate (who is tech-wiz); we share a common router. How easily, if at all, can my roomate probe/exploit my computer? I do have a firewall, and I am pretty comfortable w/ using it. However, I’m concerned that my firewall does not sufficiently protect against a local wireless probe on my computer. Am I being paranoid? Any valuable insight would be appreciated. Again, I’m pretty good w/ computers, so feel free to be technical and throw around tech-lingo like netbios, UDP, DNS, etc. Thank you.

I would be somewhat concerned if he is a “tech-wiz” cause normal firewalls don’t have much security for local area networks there manly there for internet usage. Its not very difficult to do it if he knows how to hack…. Hope you figure something out. but you could get a tracer to watch the activity or your pc while your away just a suggestion

The transmitter operates on one 9-volt battery and has 50′ of direct burial wire connecting the probe to the exterior case.
