Who can tell me about the different types of family tombs available in south Louisiana?
My sisters and I now each have young families. We have decided to each look into what we would like done when we pass away, this way we can financially prepare and make it well known to the family. I am uncomfortable with being buried or cremated or put into the family wall vault. The thought makes me “claustrophobic”. (spell check). I live in south Louisiana and there are many above ground tombs… What I am really looking for is something spacey. It doesn’t have to be extravagant or anything, but I just am not comfortable being put into a very cramped space. I know that’s weird. If we had catacombs here, that would be right up my alley, but there are none in the states. *sniff*. (the one in NJ isn’t real, it’s more of a museum. Also, how does one go about buying or ordering this? I have no idea? Can anyone suggest anything, pictures for a visual would be great, or maybe a book that gives more info. I am open to anything!
i live in North Louisiana, and we have all types up here…but it all depends on how far south you want to be laid to rest. You can have an above ground tomb built for your family…its more of a mosuleum where many members of your family are buried together…and you arent stuffed into a wall. But it gets really expensive. Its basically a stone temple looking thing with stone beirs that hold up the caskets….youre laid to rest in a casket and you are then put in a stone or steel shell. which will prevent anyone from exuming your body. there really isnt much of a choice when it comes down to simplicity…either you are buried six feet under or you are stuffed in a wall, or you are put in a above ground tomb…either way, you will be somewhat cramped. and i know that may bother you, but that will be the last thing on your mind when your death rolls around.
