Will a lighter set off a smoke alarm?

So the apartment room I have has what I believe to be a smoke detector + alarm wired up to the whole building’s anti-fire system, therefore I don’t want to tamper with it (not that I would anyway).

I don’t smoke, but I love lighters, I just like to play with them. But I don’t want to set the alarms off, so I ask this question; would it?

Highly unlikely..we have smoke detectors and we are smokers so if the cigarettes don’t set ours off I don’t see how a lighter would set yours off.

Most smoke alarms work on air density rather than heat (which is why steam for eg from a bathroom sometimes sets them off), so a lighter probably would have no effect on them.
