Jeep Wrangler wont start?
I had someone jump my Jeep off. Come to find out they had 2 batteries instead of 1. Now my Jeep wont start just by turning the key. My key has sentry security on it so you have to have it in the ignition and on. But the Jeep wont start by turning the ignition. I have to push start it. Is my celinoid burnt up? Is my starter burnt up? Is my ignition burnt up? If I have to replace the ignition what about the key code?
As long as the other vehicle is a 12v system it woundn’t matter if they have 1 battery or 15. Your starter is only going to draw as many amps as nessary to spin the engine so the other vehicle is not really a concern. You can check the solinoid of your vehicle but you must use caution when doing so. 1st block the wheels of your vehicle and set the parking brake. 2nd make sure that the trans is in park (automatic) Neutral (standard)..3rd locate the starter by tracing the red battery lead from the battery , this lead will terminate at the solinoid. On the solinoid will be a smaller wire – this is the switch wire ..4th – by making a jumper from the battery red lead to the switch wire you can check the solinoid (if the engine spins the solinoid is good and the problem lies somewhere else) if not than the solinoid is bad.. The other possibles are that the battery is bad or that the electronics for the security were sensitive to the amount of amps applied by the vehicle with the 2 batteries( usually protected by a fuse ) so check your fuses and make sure that all of them are good .Have your battery load tested ( autozone/advance ) and have a visual inspection done on the battery leads.If you have a fender mounted solinoid jump across the battery leads of the solinoid to check the starter making sure that the starter is not the problem
