Would it be feasible to construct a commercial plane that has a self contained ‘escape-pod’?

Being that parachutes on a plane is out of the question and ‘escape pods’ would make the plane too heavy. How about making the passenger areas plus the cockpit one big pod, that, when in an emergency it can be separated from the wings and tail – have a gyroscopic guidance system to guide it and upright it as necessary to a safe altitude to deploy big parachutes like seen on dropped cargo. Would this work or even be feasible? I could see this even working at low altitude emergencies.

No… don’t u think that the airline industry thought about it?
U can put parachutes in planes cause they are useless because u can’t open the hall of the plane while flying (because of the pressure) and the escape pod will have the same result as the plane crashes…
