Feds: Bomb thrown into DeLand bedroom (local6)

Federal agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives
are investigating who threw a homemade bomb through a man’s bedroom window
while he slept. DeLand police rushed to the home in the 2300 block of Oleander
Road early Wednesday morning. The culprit remains on the loose. The homeowner,
who wishes to remain unidentified, said the sound of breaking glass woke him
up around 1 a.m. and then he saw a flash of light in his bedroom and realized
a metal container with a lighted wick was sitting on the floor near his bed.
“We didn’t know that somebody was throwing bombs,” said Trisha Craig, who
lives a few doors down. “I hope it doesn’t happen to us.” Police told her and
other neighbors to stay inside and to move to the far end of the house while
they sent in a robot to remove the pipe bomb and detonate it. The homeowner
said it’s the second time he’s been threatened. Just a few weeks ago, a man
knocked on his door and stuck a gun in his stomach. The men wrestled and
eventually the suspect ran off. Police investigated that incident …
