I only ask because one of them has an 8 pin to 8 pin while the other has an 8 pin to 4+4 pin.

most of the newer motherboards use the 8 pin connector, the older ones use the 4 pin type. The 8 pin connector is bascially two 4 pin connectors side by side. So…… if you have a 8 pin on the motherboard you can use either the 8 pin or the 4+4, if your motherboard has the 4 pin connector you can use one of the 4 pin connectors on the 4+4, the 8 pin connector might not fit properly(due to space limitations around the connector)
