Do next-of-kin need Handgun Permit-to-Purchase’s for inheriting?
Since i’m going into the military for 4 years, i’m pretty much better off to give my father Power of Attorney and then let him oversee all my property and bills (i can trust him) but he complained that he was going to have to get himself a Handgun License (to purchase, not concealed carry) in order to own my two handguns. I thought you didn’t need a permit for transfer between direct family members 21+? For Iowa. The guns are kept in a pistol safe and do not leave our rural property, and honestly would not be touched for as long as i’m gone. I’m considering just selling them anyways (6″ ruger GP100 .357 revolver, and a .22LR semi-auto pistol) since i’ll probably want bigger and better guns by the time i’m done with the military.

Your father is not buying your guns he is just keeping them safe and stored. He does not need a permit. He does not need a permit to even sell your guns for you, under the authority of the Power of Attorney.
