Help with infrared led night vision!?
Hello, I wanted to try this project with these leds that I have bought http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300404577174&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:US:1123#ht_2327wt_1242
I Have connected 4 AA batteries to it in parallel and for some reason the light is not strong enough for me to see it on a wall from a meter away.
How can I make the light stronger and not exceed the 1.6v limit? Do I simply have to add more batteries in parallel?
EDIT – I have connected the LEDs in parallel. Each one has its own connection to the battery
Unless you have a camera or photocoupler, or some other detector, you shouldn’t be able to see infrared.
Double check to make sure that you don’t have the LEDs backwards.
If you hook all 50 LEDs together, it may be too much current draw. Measure the voltage across the batteries when they are all connected. If that is the case, add more batteries in parallel, or preferably, get an AC adapter that outputs 1.5 V.
