dash gauge illuminator not working?

i just want to know how to fix the illuminator light and the D4 light on my 97 accord they turn on on every now and then. what do you guys think it is? a friend told me it might be the dimmer switch but im not shure.

It is important to know what your doing not to create more problems, im a mechanic for what that is worth. If you understand how to use a dvom, digital volt ohm meter than keep reading. get a manual for your car with wiring diagrams. find the circuit that feeds your lighting hook your meter to the wire feeding the lamp and see if you loose your 12v when the light flickers or goes out. if you do work your way back up the circuit till you still have 12v when flickering wallla you found it. if you never loose 12v behind the componet when it flickers its in the componet. easy cheesy all about understanding 12v systems.
