TV, Home Theater setup help?

I purchased a Sony Bravia 52″ LCD HDTV and a Bose 3-2-1 GS series III home theater system. Last night I hooked up the system. But somethings not right! I hooked up everything as the directions described. From the TV I connected a HDMI cable to the HD DVR cable box, next I connected a HDMI cable from the Bose system to the TV. Then I connected a stereo audio cable (red and White connector) from the HD DVR (audio out) to the Bose media center (audio in). This is how the directions described, but I can’t get the TV sound through the Bose? Do I need a Optical Digital cable? Are my connections correct? and also how do I tweak my new TV, i.e. make the picture perfect. It seems not to be bright and clear as was my older Poloroid 37″ LCD HDTV (the replacement TV). PLEASE any help will be greatly appreciated.

You need to have one HDMI cable from the cable box to the Bose. This will pass the audio to the SIMULATED surround sound system. Then you need to have an HDMI cable from the Bose to the TV to send the video. If the Bose doesn’t pass video (or passes only standard definition video), then you can send it directly to the TV, but that would require splitting the cable signal. I’m not sure if this can even be done.

I hope you got the Bose cheap, because you can get a much better 5.1 (rather than simulated) surround sound system *and* a Blu-ray player for about the same price.

As far as your picture goes, tweak the video settings. It’s possible the old TV’s contrast and brightness were cranked up.
