Using Security Cameras at Night

Low lux night security cameras

This specific type of night security cameras is also called security camera lux.  Lux is actually a unit of illumination equal to one lumen per square meter.  Lumen is the amount of light crossing a unit distance from a light source of luminous intensity.  While your infrared night security cameras works on an invisible light your security camera lux needs low light levels in order for it to function.  This simply means that it could not work under total darkness.

If your night security cameras have zero lux illumination, this is more of an infrared camera, if it has added around .5 to the lux level it is already a security camera lux.  While the latter could not work under dim light, you could still have favorable output with low-lit backgrounds.

Choosing you night security cameras is easy as long as you would consider the features and how it could work best for you.  In order for you to appreciate how the different types could work, try to detect whether your place needs ample lighting in the night.  If it does not, you could go for the infrared night security cameras and if lighting is required your choice is the security camera lux.
