Its a multiple choice question. The answer is active transporter.
The reason its active transporter because it requires ATP to run the sodium potassium pump. The pump pumps sodium ions out of a cell and potassium ions into the cell. In both cases the ions are pumped against their concentration gradients which means that they are pumped into a place where there are more of that particular type of ion present.
For every cycle it pumps 3 sodium ions out of the cell, 2 potassium ions into the cell, and 1 ATP is used.
