what speeds would this ethernet cable give me?
i currently have a 12mbps high speed etherner connection
and every speed test i run confirms that
but my cables give me a max at about 600kbps if not less
sometimes i hit a good 700kbps
but rarely
its real fast
but i just want faster
so what cable speed would this give me?

i have pretty outdated cables and theyre pretty long
would a shorter cable give me a better result?
i have a 30 foot cable going to my living room and i max at 612kbps there
and my new computer is like 4 inches aaway from the roputer but it has a 12 foot cable does that affect it?

The cable does little. If you want to use CAT-6, you must then upgrade everything to gigabit ethernet. I say do 2 things: check the speed of you network port on your computer. If the computer is really old (like 13 years) and it doesn’t say the speed then i would say buy a new network card (10/100 mbps). If your computer is relitively new, just but a new CAT-5 cable instead of CAT-5 and a network card. unless you want 1000 mbps, then buy a gigabit network card, gigabit router and some CAT-6 cables.
