Beta Testing for Zone Alarms Vista versions?
I decided to go ahead and try the Beta Zone Alarm Firewall for Vista, but to my dismay I never even made it to testing it…except for the installation…which my pc failed at. I am unsure what to do, they have no support for it yet because it is still in testing…does anyone know what to do/has anyone tried beta testing it? When I attempted to install it, the new Dell practically froze….but then made it through it, just in time for the computer to go blue and dump all physical memory. Every time I started it up from that point it dumped all physical memory right after putting my password in. Luckily i was able to system restore and uninstall the firewall, but now my add/remove program area is missing the “Uninstall/Remove/repair” button. Not so concerned with the button as I am with figuring out how to use the beta (although the uninstall thing would be nice too…)!
With all due respect, that’s what you get for using a beta.
As you know, a beta is a test version and has tons and tons and tons of bugs. Obviously there was something on your computer that the installation didn’t like. With that said, I certainly wouldn’t try it again as you’re going to have the exact same result – unless they come out with a newer beta version.
However, with all that said, with my personal experience with zone alarm over the past 8 years or so, I would stay away. Stay far, far away from them. Seriously.
